I arrived on Friday evening and checked into Hotel Artemide, a beautifully designed space that perfectly balances modern luxury with classic Roman touches. After settling in, I took a leisurely stroll to Trastevere, where the narrow cobblestone streets came alive with locals enjoying the evening. I had dinner at Osteria La Gattabuia, savouring authentic Roman dishes. The ambiance was warm and inviting, a perfect introduction to the city’s culinary delights.
Saturday began with a coffee at Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè, where I soaked in the sights and sounds of the bustling square. The fountains and Baroque architecture provided a stunning backdrop as I enjoyed my espresso. In the afternoon, I wandered through Monti, a neighbourhood known for its bohemian vibe and unique boutiques. I found some beautiful handmade ceramics at a local shop, which I could see fitting perfectly into a contemporary design. The mix of old and new in Monti reminded me of the importance of blending styles to create something fresh and inviting. Ended the day by visiting one of our client’s brand launch, watching the sunset over the coliseum whilst admiring gorgeous clothes on a runway is a memory I will never forget.
Sunday was dedicated to exploring Villa Borghese. The lush gardens provided a serene escape from the city’s hustle. I rented a bike and rode through the park, taking in the beautiful sculptures and fountains. It was a great reminder of how outdoor spaces can enhance the overall feel of a home. The Borghese Gallery to admire its impressive art collection. The way the light filtered through the windows onto the artwork inspired me to think about how lighting can dramatically change a space’s atmosphere. I ended my weekend with a gelato from Gelateria dei Gracchi before heading back to the hotel. The rich flavours were a sweet note to conclude my Roman adventure.
This weekend in Rome was a perfect blend of inspiration, culture, and relaxation. The city’s unique character and artistic heritage continue to influence my approach to design. I’m excited to visit again soon.
